CYCLING UK formally CTC Cycle Touring club

The Cycling UK is a great club with a monthly news letter and weekly emails that keep you up to date. Membership comes with third party insurance, which could come in use if you hit someone or damage a car when you are at fault.

They have local clubs all over the country and the rides they organise are great, the people you meet are experienced and a font of knowledge. I was apprehensive about going on a group ride; I didn't know if I would be able to keep up etc., but I really enjoyed the rides and no one gets left behind unlike some other clubs.

Most cycle shops also offer a discount for being a member.

British Cycling

British Cycling is the national governing body for cycling as recognised by the UCI – the international federation for the sport.

As such, British Cycling works across all levels and six disciplines of the sport (BMX, Mountain Bike, Cyclo-Cross, Road, Track and Cycle Speedway), from providing the support and encouragement people need to get riding their bikes for the first time, to being home to the hugely successful Great Britain Cycling Team.

They too have a third party insurance scheme.

SUSTRANS

Sustrans is a charity that champions sustainable transport via foot, bike or public transport. They have some interesting stuff on routes on their site.
